Your archive stays with you.
Updated 12 October 2026. ListenRewind is an independent, browser-local music-history explorer. Operator identity and support contact details are pending for this public preview; this is not a completed legal launch declaration.
History and browser storage
Selected ZIP, HTML and JSON files are processed on your device. Normalized listening events are stored in this site’s IndexedDB database. No archive upload or analytics endpoint is implemented. Browser storage belongs to this origin: a different site address will have a different archive. Storage can be cleared or evicted; keep a backup.
Spotify artwork
Artwork loads by default and can be turned off in Data & privacy. Public cover thumbnails are requested from Spotify’s oEmbed endpoint without signing in. Visible track IDs and normal network information are sent to Spotify; images load from Spotify’s CDN. Artist tiles use a representative track cover until an authorized portrait is available. You can disable artwork in Data & privacy to stop these requests. Artwork metadata is cached in this browser session.
Spotify sign-in and direct playlist creation are not available on the public site. The separate local authorized edition uses Spotify sign-in with PKCE. Access tokens are held in session storage, expire and are not included in backups. Photos require requests to Spotify containing selected track/artist IDs and ordinary connection information such as your IP address. Images load from Spotify’s image service. Creating a playlist sends the playlist name, description and ordered track IDs to Spotify after confirmation.
Your controls
Data & privacy lets you export a full backup, clear listening history, disable and clear artwork metadata, or remove all local app data. Disconnect removes this app’s session tokens. To revoke authorization on Spotify, use your Spotify account’s Apps page. Clearing browser data does not remove playlists already created in Spotify.
Downloads and reports
Backups contain personal history. CSVs, links and report images reveal selected listening information. Downloads are private until you share them; this app does not automatically publish them.
Hosted releases
The public preview is hosted through OpenAI Sites with Cloudflare delivery and domain services. These providers receive normal requests for site assets, including connection information such as IP addresses, and may retain operational or security logs under their policies. Listening archives are processed in your browser and are not included in those asset requests. Provider-specific retention has not been independently verified. This preview has no advertising, account creation, subscription, analytics cookies set by ListenRewind or an archive-upload backend. Hosting providers may use strictly necessary security cookies. The local playlist handoff described below is not available on the public site.
YouTube Music
Video covers load by default and can be disabled in Data & privacy. Combined rankings and song matches are calculated on this device. Confirmed matches, chosen video links and the public Google Client ID are saved locally. Google playlist access tokens are kept in memory for this page session; playlist creation sends only selected video IDs and playlist details to Google. Automatic Google connection is restricted to the configured local edition while public deployment and verification are pending.
Music-specific Google Takeout ZIP, HTML or JSON activity is processed locally in a separate archive. General YouTube viewing, searches and unsupported actions are excluded. No Google login is required. Listening durations and verified artist metadata are not inferred. Video thumbnails send selected public video IDs and network information to i.ytimg.com; they can be disabled in Data & privacy. Your original exports are never uploaded.
Optional Soundiiz handoff
This applies only to the local edition, not the public site. When you choose to send selected songs to Soundiiz, the local server forwards only the selected song titles, artist/channel names, available album names, playlist name and chosen destination to Soundiiz. Listening timestamps, play counts, archive files and Spotify/Google tokens are not included. The server does not save this request. Soundiiz receives the selected list and ordinary connection information, and returns a temporary import link.
Opening that link lets you review matches and connect accounts on Soundiiz under its own terms, privacy policy and plan limits. Preparing a link does not transfer or delete your library. This handoff is currently available in the local edition; a public deployment needs its own configured server and hosting disclosures. Soundiiz privacy & terms ↗
